We tried to explain that we did arrive during the late period but we just couldn’t find the entrance due to construction and she was the one who gave us the directions, but she still refused to sit us anywhere else. She told us because we were late (past the 15 window) that she couldn’t give us our original table and we could only sit at the communal table, even though it was by 2 minutes. After we checked in, the host brought my friend and I to the communal table in the middle, which we obviously weren’t happy with, so my friend reminded her that this was my birthday dinner and asked if we could sit at one of the MANY open two top tables. By the time we got to the restaurant we were a total of 17 minutes late (2 minutes past the late window).

We called to let them know and they told us about their 15min late policy (which was fine because we would be there before then) we arrived 10 minutes after our reservation time to find that there was construction going on and the normal route from the valet to Umi was blocked so we called to ask for directions on how to get to the entrance. Came here for my birthday with a friend and we were running a little late.
